The Petersburg Community Club annual carnival was generally well attended despite threating weather in the surrounding area. Emcee for the event was Johnathan Temme who welcomed people to the 67th annual DC Lynch Shows annual carnival.

Tanner and Nicole Schafer are parents to a new daughter, Gracelynn Mae, born to them on June 21, 2024. She weighed 7 lbs., 1 oz.

Justin Rasmussen and Bailey Maise, both of Sioux City, have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding on June 22, 2024. Parents of the bride-to-be are Mike and Michele Carlson of Jackson, Neb.; and parents of the groom-to-be are David and Christina Rasmussen of Albion.

Nathan Devine, a Boone County High School senior, ·has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Albion Area Arts Council Scholarship. He is the son of Andrew and Michelle Devine.

Farmers planning to use chemigation (fertigation) to apply fertilizer or other chemicals to crops have a deadline of June 1, 2024, for permit renewal from the Lower Loup Natural Resources District. Completed chemigation permit applications must be received by the LLNRD on or before that date.

Newman Grove High School graduates of 2024 were saluted Saturday, May 11, both for their high school achievements and their potential to make a positive difference in the world. Superintendent of Schools Josh Warren said he has witnessed “incredible potential” in the senior class, and he urged them to continue their quest for excellence in their future endeavors.
