At the May Petersburg Community Club meeting, President Danielle Koch presented a First Dollar plaque to Nick Pelster, owner of P23Ag, LLC, Beck’s. Pelster is a Boone Central, Northeast Community College and Northwest Missouri State University graduate in agronomy.

With the season rapidly moving on, some farmers by May 8, south of Petersburg, were attempting to get their crop into the ground following the recent rains. Much of the corn crop has been planted, although some were washed under or washed out due to heavier rains in some areas.

Four graduating seniors were honored with special music awards at the Boone Central Fine Arts Banquet Monday night, May 6.

Boone County Foundation Fund Advisory Committee announced this week it has awarded $22,010 to 15 county nonprofit organizations for 2024. This total represents an increase of more than $5,000 from last year’s total of $17,000.

On May 1, severe lightning struck a tree in front of the Kathy Koch (center right holding broom) home. The 28-year-old tree which sat close to the house was completely split with the strike bright enough to light up some of the neighboring homes.
