PCC has clean up day at parks

Last Friday evening, May 17, members of the Petersburg Community Club and volunteers cleaned the branches and debris from the big Petersburg park next to Hwy. 14 and the downtown park in preparation of BRAN’s June arrival. Members said community youngsters did an awesome job without any complaints. Following activities. refreshments were provided by the club. Helping in the top photo were Tina Stokes, Kalynn Koch, Tori Petsche, Jade Petsche, Eric Petsche and Reed. Kids volunteering in the lower photo were Braelyn Thieman, Jade Petsche, Anistyn Koch, Reed Petsche and Stetson Koch.

The TAPS ACROSS AMERICA tribute debuted on national television in 2020 when CBS news “On the Road” cor-respondent Steve Hartman teamed up with retired Air Force bugler Jari Villan-eva, founder of TAPSFORVET-RANS and TAPS ACROSSAMER-CA. The two men invited buglers and musicians to sound TAPS from their front porches all at the same time as a part of the TAPS ACROSS AMERICA tribute.

First Dollar plaque presented to Pelster at PCC meeting

At the May Petersburg Community Club meeting, President Danielle Koch presented a First Dollar plaque to Nick Pelster, owner of P23Ag, LLC, Beck’s. Pelster is a Boone Central, Northeast Community College and Northwest Missouri State University graduate in agronomy. His office is in 123 Main building complex and he is an area salesperson for Beck’s Hybrid. In the future, he hopes to become more involved in additional agriculture ventures. He lives in Petersburg and is a member of the Petersburg Fire Department.

Farmers attempting to plant

With the season rapidly moving on, some farmers by May 8, south of Petersburg, were attempting to get their crop into the ground following the recent rains. Much of the corn crop has been planted, although some were washed under or washed out due to heavier rains in some areas.

Special music award winners at Boone Central

Four graduating seniors were honored with special music awards at the Boone Central Fine Arts Banquet Monday night, May 6. Recipients, l.-r., are Nathan Devine, Outstanding Instrumentalist; Bella Meyer, John Phillip Sousa National Band Award; Emma Lordemann, National Choral Award, and Myranda Nelson, Outstanding Vocalist Award. The annual spring concert, also presented Monday night, featured the concert band, concert choir, Breakfast Club and jazz band. Vocal soloists included Dyanna Buettner, Eloise Martinez, Myranda Nelson, Jaxon Lipker, Emma Lordemann and Quinn Bittner. Instrumental soloists were Cooper Holan, Jessie Heynie and Bella Meyer.
