The Albion community blood drive was held Monday, June 30 at the Casey’s Building at the Boone County Fairgrounds. They had 83 units of blood donated from 85 donors.

Herman celebrates 30 years

Loup Power District has recognized Brian Herman of Fullerton for 30 years of service. Herman joined Loup in 1995 as an Apprentice Line Technician in Fullerton and was promoted to Line Technician later that year.

Sup named for 10/11 Golden Apple award

Every month during the school year, 10/11 and Doane University present the Golden Apple Award to a deserving teacher. The April 2025 winner is a business teacher at Boone Central High School. Joel Sup is described as a person whose actions are always in the best interests of kids.

Three chosen for Legion Cornhusker State event

The Albion American Legion and Auxiliary have announced the selections for the 2025 Boys and Girls Cornhusker State event in Lincoln this summer - with three Cardinals planning to make the trip. The American Legion Post 162 and American Legion Auxiliary 162 named Grant Kuta, Edwin Naranjo Aranda and Miranda McGill, all of Albion, as sponsored by the local Post and Valero Renewables, and will join nearly 340 other high school juniors from across Nebraska in the American Legion Cornhusker Boys’ State program this summer.

LLNRD opens entry period for photo contest

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District (LLNRD) is now accepting entries for its 2025 Photo Contest. The intent of the contest is to inspire photographers of every level to visit LLNRD recreation areas and to explore the scenic district.
