Members from the Albion Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop and Girl Scouts collected 734 items for the Boone County Food Pantry April 5th. The Troop appreciates everyone that helped with the gathering, collecting and donating this year.

Everyone needs someone to talk to – and thanks to a group of Albion professionals, that help just got a bit easier to find. Albion alum, Brittany (Korth) Childress, knew while finishing her high school career as a Cardinal that she was interested in mental health, and said she started that path in her first year of college.

Maricle takes honors at NEFB

Cody Maricle of Boone County took top honors at the 2024 Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) Collegiate Discussion Meet. The award was announced Dec. 10 at the Member Appreciation luncheon at Nebraska Farm Bureau’s 107th Annual Meeting and Convention in Kearney. Maricle earned the top score during the final round of Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Collegiate Discussion Meet held during the Nebraska Farm Bureau Annual Meeting and Convention. The contest aims to simulate a committee meeting rather than a debate where competitors offer solutions to timely problems facing agriculture.

Morton celebrates 35 years at power district

Loup Power District recognized Hydro Superintendent Brad Morton for 35 years of service to Loup Power District. Morton joined Loup in 1990 as Second Assistant Plant Operator at the Columbus Powerhouse.

Cardinals start preparing musical

Rehearsals have begun for this year’s Boone Central High School musical, “Curtains.” The year is 1959, and a new musical is premiering at Boston’s Colonial Theater. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage during the bows, the entire cast and crew are suspects.
