The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved grant award recommendations for the Land and Water Conservation Fund Stateside Assistance Program and the Recreational Trails Program at its meeting Jan. 23 in Lincoln.

On October 22nd, Boone Central Middle School held its annual retreat day, where 7th and 8th graders get to focus on character education the entire day.

Paul Yrkoski retired from Cornhusker Public Power District on September 5, 2025. Yrkoski was hired in 1990 as a grounds man, promoted to stores/ utility technician in 1991, and purchasing/ stores supervisor in 2015.

A large gathering of community members, students, staff, Veterans and families packed the perofrmance gymasium at Boone Central High School this past Tuesday for the 2025 Veterans Day event.

Kollin Rasmussen received Grand Champion Division 1 Market Steer at the Kansas City Royal Livestock Show.

The students at Newman Grove Public Schools are getting their cafeteria meals “beefed up”, courtesy of a program called Scott’s Meat Mission. This program was the idea of Scott Nelson, father, farmer and an alumnus of Newman Grove schools.

Albion Fire and Rescue would like to thank all those able to attend the annual Pancake Feed. As volunteers, the department thrives because of the support of the community.

Gateway Theatre organized on January 22, 2002, through a purchase agreement from Keith Theater and Gateway Youth Foundation, a 501(c) (3) entity. An agreement entered into with Boone Central Schools through a partnership with an entrepreneur class and a board of directors was made.

Cornhusker Public Power District has hired three new employees to help with efforts at the district and it’s power supply to the area. Cameron Houfek was hired at Cornhusker Public Power District as an apprentice line technician on the Columbus Underground Construction Crew on May 22, 2025.

The “Pay it Forward” pumpkin is open for the season, located West of the golf course bottom of the hill, at the home of Nick and Ashley Krohn.
