Boone County Health Center (BCHC) has announced the appointment of Anne Parks to its Foundation Board. With a rich background in banking and commitment to community service, Parks brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role.

Constituents of Third District Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) are invited to meet with a member of his staff during the month of April in Albion and 12 other communities. The staff outreach in Albion will be Monday, April 8, at the Boone County Courthouse, 222 S.

Masses in Petersburg, Raeville and Elgin have been recently announced. Petersburg will have mass on Sunday at 8 a.m.

Pat Miller and David Shipley, four-hand keyboard entertainers and fan favorites at area events, will provide a musical program after the annual Immanuel Zion (IZ) salad supper to be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 6 p.m.

Boone County voters are being notified this week of the 2024 primary election coming up May 14 by County Clerk Sarah Robinson. Boone County has all-mail elections, and ballots are expected to be mailed out by Wednesday, April 24.

Petersburg Fire Department has announced the band for their annual Cruise Night music to be held Saturday, June 8, 2024. Pop Rocks will again be in Petersburg from 9 p.m.

The 38th Annual Pope John Development Dinner was held Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Werner Hall in Petersburg. The prestigious Roncalli Award was presented to Ken and Joan Stuhr of Petersburg.

Brian Busse, instructor from the Nebraska Fireman’s Training Division, was here for a hands-on workshop demonstrating new rescue procedures and how extrication is evolving. He said, “Today things are changing rapidly including most car bodies which are now aluminum. Various models have the seatbelt post located in different places.”

Boone County was on the border-line of rain/ice and snow in the forecasts over the weekend. Most of the day was rain on Sunday, which became ice and turned to snow early Monday morning. Shown top to bottom are: Snowplow was cleaning snow on Petersburg’s Main Street near Petersburg Building and Supply. Snow was being cleared between the Petersburg Village Office and Great Plains State Bank. And, snow was piled in the middle of Main Street to be removed at a later time.

PCC’s Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the big park next to Highway 14 at 1 p.m., sharp. Groups will be divided by age up to and including age 10.
