Tree struck by lightning

On May 1, severe lightning struck a tree in front of the Kathy Koch (center right holding broom) home. The 28-year-old tree which sat close to the house was completely split with the strike bright enough to light up some of the neighboring homes. The tree was removed by Doug Koch and Clint Baumgartner using a payloader. The remaining debris was cleared away by family members.

Boone Central Honor Society inducts 18

Boone Central Chapter of National Honor Society held a tapping ceremony last Thursday, April 25, to induct 18 new members. The new members are (front, l.-r.) Riley Nelson, Sydney Spangler, Dayna Sharp, Ciara Baker, Madison Reilly, Miranda McGill and Elissa Reynoldson; (middle) Averie Luettel, Cody Andreasen, Brogan Benes, Grant Kuta and Myah Rankin; (back) Edwin Naranjo Aranda, Jacob Miller, Connor Christo, Logan Spence, Addyson Winter and Katelyn Krohn.

District track meet changes schedule for Boone Central

Boone Central High School will be hosting the B-4 District track and field meet for both boys and girls next Tuesday, May 7. Due to hosting this district meet, there will be no school for Boone Central Middle School and High School (grades 5-12).

Host Cardinals fly high in Mid-State

Boone Central hosted the Mid-State Conference Track and Field Championships Saturday, April 27, in Albion. Nine league schools competed, with the Cardinals scoring 118 points in both boys and girls divisions.

BC golfers swing away in Lakeview Invite

The Boone Central boys golf team continued its 2024 season April 25 in the Lakeview Invitational at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus. Playing the challenging Quail Run layout for the second time (previously in the Scotus Invite April 18), the Cardinals finished with a team score of 442 Thursday, placing 10th in the tough 12-team field.
