For anyone who is interested in becoming a Petersburg EMT, the Albion Department is in the process of scheduling EMT classes. However, no date has been set.
Boone Central hosted the Mid-State Conference Track and Field Championships Saturday, April 27, in Albion. Nine league schools competed, with the Cardinals scoring 118 points in both boys and girls divisions.
The Boone Central boys golf team continued its 2024 season April 25 in the Lakeview Invitational at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus. Playing the challenging Quail Run layout for the second time (previously in the Scotus Invite April 18), the Cardinals finished with a team score of 442 Thursday, placing 10th in the tough 12-team field.
Last Friday, April 26, the Petersburg Fire Department trained spotters went into the countryside at 2:40 p.m. Somewhat after 3 p.m., a tornado was spotted one mile west and one-half south of Petersburg. Once the tornado touched the ground the local sirens were sounded. The tornado was watched until it became rain wrapped and apparently dissipated.
Boone County Commissioners started their April 24 meeting with a discussion of water drainage issues west of Albion in the area of 250th Street and Old Mill Road. Steven Ruzek, Dave Warner and Rob Robinson told the board a waterway in that area backs up during big rains, which could cause flooding in some houses.
