Albion Chamber of Commerce is planning two special events this weekend. The Taste of Albion will be held Friday evening, March 22, 6 to 9 p.m.

Many hay bales were destroyed in a fire Monday, March 11, at Cedar River Feeders near Cedar Rapids, but no equipment or other property was damaged in the blaze. Owner Paul Groeteke said he is also thankful there were no injuries to either personnel or animals during this incident.

Masses in Petersburg, Raeville and Elgin have been recently announced. Petersburg will have mass on Sunday at 8 a.m.

Summit Carbon Solutions held a first informational meeting in Albion on Tuesday morning, March 12, at the Casey building on the Boone County Fairgrounds. A second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, 7 a.m.

Fire department members noted that the area has had several days of Red Flag warnings. • Residents are reminded that, as in this case, a fire you may think is out may still have the possibility of flaring up with strong winds.

Boone-Nance Cattlemen are planning their annual banquet for Saturday, April 6, at the Event Center on the county fairgrounds. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the prime rib dinner at 6:30.

Pope John Central Catholic/St. Boniface Elementary in Elgin will be having a Visitation Day on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 8-11:30 a.m.

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen has accepted an invitation to be the guest speaker at the Boone Central High School TeamMates Banquet on Sunday, April 21.
