Newman Grove NHS inducts new members

The Newman Grove National Honor Society (NHS) welcomed seven new members during its induction ceremony held on Monday, March 24th. This year marks the 98th anniversary of the school’s NHS charter, which was issued on April 26, 1927, making it one of the oldest in the state of Nebraska.
New inductees are (l-r): Micah Cuevas, Dylan Luetkenhaus, Piper Jarecki, Allyx Forre, Isabella Santarosa and Madysen Wiese.

Micah Cuevas named for Boys’ State

The Newman Grove American Legion Post #73 has announced that Micah Cuevas, a junior at Newman Grove High School, will participate in the American Legion Cornhusker Boys’ State Program on June 1-7, 2025, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln downtown campus.

City hosting well workshop for all

The City of Newman Grove will be hosting a well decommissioning open house on Tuesday, April 8 to discuss with any interested parties about well care and removal and a wellhead protection plan. The City of Newman Grove currently has funds to be able to offer 100 percent cost-share to decommission abandoned wells located in the project area shown in the map nearby.
Wells inside the new protection district will be considered for decommissioning assistance funds.

Newman Grove youth in WSC science event

Seventy-eight students from Northeast Nebraska schools competed during the Nebraska Junior Academy of Science’s (NJAS) Northeast Regional Science Fair held March 28 at Wayne State College. Sixteen science projects received invitations to NJAS’s State Science Fair on April 24.

Their project was one of 16 that qualified for the Nebraska Junior Academy of Science’s State Science Fair being held April 24.

Alumni tourney won by ‘06-’07

Lady Panthers fall in final game

The Newman Grove/St. Edward Lady Panthers finished up their season of play in the D1-6 NSAA Sub-District D1-6 tournament at Nebraska Christian last week.
