Lady Cardinals fall to O’Neill, Wayne in close contests

After an up and down week against some tough opponents the Boone Central Cardinals (5-4) were back in action against some .500 teams last week. Based off their play the week before, these looked like two very winnable games but unfortunately the ball didn’t bounce their way this week as they dropped both matches losing to O’Neill (5-5) at home on Friday and on the road at Wayne (6-7) on Saturday.

2024 closed out on a high note for the Cardinals with the holiday tournament win and 2025 started off equally well with two solid wins. But the Cardinals of Boone Central (5-4) were brought back down to earth last week with a pair of defeats from conference foes O’Neill (4-5) and Wayne (11-1).

The Boone Central Cardinals wrestling team took to the mats at the “Norm Manstedt” Boys Invitational at Columbus last weekend, taking on some tough competition from Lincoln, Valentine and many schools in-between.

Lady Cards second at Holiday tourney in Broken Bow

With the holiday break in the rearview, the Lady Cardinals of Boone Central (3-2) headed off to the Broken Bow Holiday Tournament on Dec 27th and 28th. The Cards battled hard in both matches, earning a victory in the opening round over Adams Central 50-46 before falling to the host school 53-46 in the championship to take home the runner-up prize.
