After a hot start to the season last week, the Boone Central girls basketball team ran into a buzzsaw of tough competition against undefeated teams this past week. The Lady Cardinals took a 56-40 home court loss to 10th rated Crofton last Tuesday, and lost on the road, 48-32, to 12th ranked Central City on Thursday night.

It was a rough start to the season for the Boone Central boys basketball team as they dropped their opening games to Lakeview at home and on the road against Cedar Catholic. The Cardinals opened their 202425 campaign at home last Thursday against the Vikings of Columbus Lakeview.

The newly merged Newman Grove-St. Edward basketball programs began their 2024-25 season on Thursday, Dec. 5, as the Panthers traveled to Osceola to take on the Bulldogs. Here’s how the action went: NG-SE Girls The NG-SE girls trailed by six, 9-3 after the first quarter, but the second quarter saw things come apart for the Panthers, as they were outscored 12-6, and trailed 23-9 at the half. The Panthers finished strong, going on an 18-7 tear in the fourth quarter, but still falling short, 42-36.
