Boone County Foundation Fund Advisory Committee announced this week it has awarded $22,010 to 15 county nonprofit organizations for 2024. This total represents an increase of more than $5,000 from last year’s total of $17,000.

On May 7, the St Edward Kindergarten through 11th grade performed their Spring Music Program, “Hawaiian Beach Party.” Bright colors, grass skirts, lei’s, the Hulu, palm trees and monkeys were all part of the program. The students, staff and community also celebrated Mrs.

It was a circus atmosphere at the Boone Central Gym last Friday, May 3, when the elementary students performed their annual spring music program “Welcome to the Boone Central Circus.” This event was moved into the competition gym and featured preschool through fourth grade. It all started with a “Circus Parade” and “The Circus is Coming” by K-4 students, followed by the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.

The birth of triplet calves is considered highly unusual on any farm or ranch. In fact, some cattlemen never see this phenomenon, but it happened at the Norm and Marv Brugger farm at Akron last weekend.

Boone County Fairgrounds in Albion will be the site of the 2024 Nebraska Junior High State Finals Rodeo on Thursday and Friday, May 16-17. About 100 contestants are expected for the rodeo events, which will begin at 9 a.m.

Many awards and honors were presented by the Newman Grove FFA Chapter and advisor Mikayla Martinsen during the annual banquet last week. Chelsa Reardon received the American FFA degree.
