Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund trustees awarded $2,541 to 12 organizations at the August 12 meeting. Cornhusker Public Power District CEO/GM Clay Gibbs said, “These organizations are doing great things in the community, and we are very proud to be a part of it.

BC TeamMates win regional award

The Boone Central TeamMates Mentoring program was recently awarded the Chapter of the Year award from the North Central region. The Boone Central team reported 26 new mentors recruited to be matched with local students for the year. The Teammate mentors also completed more than 60 refresher trainings, and were able to complete all the new mentor training that was required for the growth of the chapter.

Final concert in series brings out big crowd

Several hundred people attended the final concert of the downtown Albion series last Thursday, July 25, featuring the Pioneer Band (top photo) and Grant Pickrel (right). They played five hours of country music at The Venue on Fourth.The concert, sponsored by the Albion Area Arts Council, also featured a free will burger feed sponsored by Cornerstone Bank, free tacos sponsored by Stealth Broadband, several food trucks, other refreshments and other activities.

Donelson wins NF award

Nebraska Farmer announced last week that Newman Grove area native Addy Donelson was the 2024 scholarship recipient. Donelson, a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is an agriculture and environmental sciences communication major, with minors in Engler entrepreneurship and public policy.
