It’s been a full year, give or take, since I went into the hospital last November. It was a harrowing experience, and not one I’m hoping to repeat any time soon.
A new adventure for me when we took over here in Albion was the idea of these large-scale, every door direct mailings. You’re allowed two of such things by the Postal Service each year, and it’s quite a feat, but if I could do it every week, I’d certainly try.
Enough years ago that it seems like a completely different lifetime - I once made a run for political office. I doubt anyone remembers, it was rather uneventful, I was soundly defeated by the incumbent at the time, and life moved forward as it was doing, and for the better for the service of all those involved.
I love western movies. There’s been a rush of reinvigoration about western tales – and I really appreciate the stories that are now being told from other points of view sometimes.
Fun story this week about an Albion native who just recorded and released a vinyl album. I have a number of vinyl albums - I’m kind of a hoarder of ..well...everything, but I don’t have a record player, so I have to work on that.
I’ve always been a bit of a sucker for “pop culture.” I like pop music, I enjoy trying new candy and soda, I’ll buy the weird chips just to try them out I don’t know if it’s “live in the moment” or if it’s just “too lazy to appreciate anything,” but I really do enjoy “pop” stuff. It’s no secret that the last number of years have been dominated by “pumpkin spice” and while I definitely enjoy a pumpkin now and again, it’s not exactly on the top of my list for anything.
I’ve always been a soup guy. I don’t really know why, I suppose it’s because I think of food as a vehicle for different flavors, and soup seems...efficient.
I’ve always loved Superman, he’s my favorite super hero by a large margin. Not just for all the things that make Superman great, but because he tries to do what’s right.
