Great Plains State Bank held its annual appreciation lunch for a crowd of customers last Thursday, May 22 in downtown Petersburg at the local branch. Bank employees prepared, grilled and served those in attendance on the sunny day..

May 14 at 10 p.m. the Petersburg Fire Department was alerted by the Elgin Fire Chief of a fire concern, the department immediately began preparations’ a short while later they responded to the mutual aid call. The fire which the Petersburg Department responded to was south of Havels, there were other departments also responding to other fires. It was difficult in the darkness to tell how many acres were burned. This fire just like the other fires probably started by lighting when a storm moved through with strong lighting but no moisture. The department returned to the station at 1 a.m.

Tami Kester, RN/supervisor, is the 2025 Caring Kind Award Winner of Antelope Memorial Hospital. Tami was recognized for this prestigious award on Tuesday, May 13th during National Hospital Week.
