EPJ students mandated Nov. 20

Five Pope John XXIII Central Catholic students were mandated as lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) Thursday morning, November 20th at an all-school 8:15 a.m. Mass. Father John Norman conducted the mandating. He thanked the students for their willingness to serve their school and parishes. Students mandated were Gavin Kallhoff (EMHC), Brooke Kinney (EMHC), Elizabeth Moser (EMHC), Aubrie Parks (EMHC), Samantha Stuhr (lector & EMHC).

Rueth and Pelster awarded Quilts of Valor

A large happy crowd attended the American Legion Post 334 supper, including the Quilts of Valor ceremony and silent auction. The hard work of preparing the evening meal was done by Karen Arends and family.

The Petersburg Fire Department and Rescue Unit held their annual recognition supper Saturday November 1 in the fire hall with social hour at 6 p.m. and supper at 7 p.m.

Cold day for trick or treating...

Cold and nasty was an understatement for conditions at the annual Petersburg Community Club Trunk or Treat Halloween Day celebration. The little characters were forced to bundle up while filling their bags with goodies. Along with the merchants, some residents also braved the weather to participate.

NECC Climbers practice at Petersburg..

Students in the Northeast Community College Wind Energy program visited the Laredo Ridge Wind Farm near Petersburg on Thursday, October 2. The wind farm is operated by Clearway. Under the guidance of Clearway staff and their instructor, 14 freshmen students had the opportunity to climb an actual industrial wind turbine. “It was incredibly rewarding to see the excitement on their faces and hear the enthusiasm in their voices as they described the experience. Their reactions truly reflected the impact of hands-on learning in the field. We greatly appreciate our industry partners helping to facilitate this experience,” said Aaron Hoffmann, Wind Energy instructor. (Northeast Community College)

Life Chain held at Pope John...

The annual Life Chain sponsored by Pope John XXIII Central Catholic took place in Elgin on Sunday, October 5th, from 11:00 to noon. Participants gathered for quiet, public witness and prayer in protest against abortion..
