Quilts of Valor given during Madison County Fair

Body Within a week of the great celebration for America’s 250th birthday, the Madison County 4-H program gathered people together for a more somber occasion to pay tribute to four veterans who fought to secure our freedom.

Blood drive exceeds goal

Body The Newman Grove Red Cross blood drive was held on June 15, 2026, at Fellowship Bible Church. There were 56 donors collecting 61 units of blood with a goal of 54.

Ross, O’Brien honored by NSVFA

Body The Nebraska State Volunteer Fire Association (NSVFA) gives recognition for services which NSVFA members provide during the opening ceremonies of the Nebraska State Fire School each year, and this year’s recipients were two Good Samaritans recognized and nominated by the Albion...
Robert Ross was unable to attend the Opening Ceremonies on May 15th, but was able to attend the June 8th AVFD Meeting and receive his plaque, he is pictured above (center, holding plaque), and the photo includes Isaac Reeder and several AVFD members that responded to the incident.

Benes and Kobe win National Runner-Up

Body Mark Benes, of Albion, qualified three of his dogs to the Mountain States Stockdog Association’s National Finals held in Afton, Wyo. in mid-June – ending up a Reserve Champion in the national competition.

Record holder within short drive from Albion

Body Located 34 miles west and north of Albion on highway # 91 is “Pibel Lake” home of “Nebraska’s largest Eastern Cottonwood Tree”. So now is the time for a short road trip to see a “National Champion” tree.
