The Albion Cornerstone Bank Post 162 Seniors Legion baseball team traveled to Wakefield Saturday August 3rd for the Nebraska American Legion Class C Senior State Tournament. Albion drew the winner of District 1, Crofton for the first game of the tournament.

The 2024 Boone Central Health Center Foundation Golf Tournament was held on July 19, with championship honors going to a team of “Commscope/Anixter Wesco.” This year’s event was put together by the Foundation to help raise funds for the new 3D mammography unit. The event was able to raise $13,500 for the “Upgrade to Excellence” campaign.
It was a busy week for the Albion Cornerstone Legion Seniors with three games on the road. They got off to an amazing start walloping Atkinson on Monday the 15th 17-2 before winning both sides of a double header in Orchard on Thursday, 4-1 and 6-2.
The Albion Cornerstone Bank Post 162 Legion juniors squad saw their season come to an end at the Class C Junior Legion State Baseball Tournament after just two games on Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21.
The Albion Junior Legion Baseball team took to the field on Greg Paesl Memorial Field in Creighton for the 2024 Class C Junior Area 1 tournament with their first game on July 12. The Juniors fell to Crofton’s Post 128 boys in the first game in an uncharacteristic 11-1 game; and then defeated the #1 seeded Adams Post 221 in a final inning 8-7 win, in their second game to catapult them back into the tournament in good fashion.
Wayne State College women’s golf team had three players named to the 2023-24 WGCA (Women’s Golf Coaches Association) All-American Scholar Team announced Monday, July 1, by the coaches’ association office in Coral Springs, Florida.
Two athletes hailing from Albion will be named to the Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame this fall. Josh Majerus, a standout wrestler at CSC and now head wrestling coach at Boone Central High School, is one of five honorees in wrestling.
