The 2024 Boone Central Health Center Foundation Golf Tournament was held on July 19, with championship honors going to a team of “Commscope/Anixter Wesco.” This year’s event was put together by the Foundation to help raise funds for the new 3D mammography unit.

It was a busy week for the Albion Cornerstone Legion Seniors with three games on the road. They got off to an amazing start walloping Atkinson on Monday the 15th 17-2 before winning both sides of a double header in Orchard on Thursday, 4-1 and 6-2.

The Albion Cornerstone Bank Post 162 Legion juniors squad saw their season come to an end at the Class C Junior Legion State Baseball Tournament after just two games on Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21.

The Albion Junior Legion Baseball team took to the field on Greg Paesl Memorial Field in Creighton for the 2024 Class C Junior Area 1 tournament with their first game on July 12.

The Albion Seniors hosted St. Paul on Monday, July 8th for their final home game of the regular season.

Wayne State College women’s golf team had three players named to the 2023-24 WGCA (Women’s Golf Coaches Association) All-American Scholar Team announced Monday, July 1, by the coaches’ association office in Coral Springs, Florida.

Two athletes hailing from Albion will be named to the Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame this fall. Josh Majerus, a standout wrestler at CSC and now head wrestling coach at Boone Central High School, is one of five honorees in wrestling.

Nebraska Raptors 14U softball team, playing out of Silver Creek, recently claimed the District 5 softball championship in Grand Island to earn a spot in the Class C State championships.
