On April 8th, the Boone County Foundation Fund (BCFF), an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF), awarded $56,100 in grant funding to 20 local charitable projects. During the event, hosted at Highway 14 Brewing Company, fund advisory committee members shared information about who the BCFF is, how the organization is funded, and how its unrestricted endowment continues to provide the funds needed to make a meaningful impact on the county.

Albion Fire and Rescue were called to a possible fire at the Boone County Courthouse on Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters joined Albion Police and the Boone County Sheriff’s office as courthouse patrons, attorneys and employees gathered on the lawn outside to wait for the final clear.

The Boone Central Middle School speech team competed at the Marian Crusader Speech Meet in Omaha on Friday, April 11th. BCMS placed 5th out of 18 teams, amongst 285 total entries across all events.

The Boone Central National Honor Society chapter held it’s “tapping ceremony” on Monday, April 13, with 11 new scholars joining the group. The National Honor Society inductees included: Makenna Devine Leah Erickson Lucas Frey Ella Gompert Brynna Hagemann Addysen Hedlund Kasey Krohn Kaden Miller Ashlynn Naber Dorothy Smith Kenzie Wies During the event, the Senior NHS members were also given their honor cords to wear at graduation..

Albion Scouts are asking for the community’s help with their Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, April 18th 2026. The Scouts are collecting donations of any non-perishable food items for the Boone County Food Pantry.

Boone Central FFA members competed at the Nebraska State FFA Convention in Lincoln from March 25-27. Chapter members took part in numerous contests while also attending sessions and workshops.

The fourth annual “Cardinal Call Out” speech event for middle school students was held at Boone Central last week, with the local speakers taking the gold medal for the event and a host of individual awards.

A total of 17 Boone Central FCCLA students competed in three different STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events, demonstrating their dedication to leadership development, career preparation, and making a positive impact in their communities.

The Boone Central Cardinals performed their hearts out and delivered some unforgettable moments at the Nebraska State Speech Championships, capturing multiple individual state titles while showcasing a team culture that proved just as powerful as any performance from the day.
