BCFF awards $56,100 in grants

On April 8th, the Boone County Foundation Fund (BCFF), an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF), awarded $56,100 in grant funding to 20 local charitable projects. During the event, hosted at Highway 14 Brewing Company, fund advisory committee members shared information about who the BCFF is, how the organization is funded, and how its unrestricted endowment continues to provide the funds needed to make a meaningful impact on the county.

Possible fire investigated at Courthouse...

Albion Fire and Rescue were called to a possible fire at the Boone County Courthouse on Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters joined Albion Police and the Boone County Sheriff’s office as courthouse patrons, attorneys and employees gathered on the lawn outside to wait for the final clear.

National Honor Society grows ranks at ceremony

The Boone Central National Honor Society chapter held it’s “tapping ceremony” on Monday, April 13, with 11 new scholars joining the group. The National Honor Society inductees included: Makenna Devine Leah Erickson Lucas Frey Ella Gompert Brynna Hagemann Addysen Hedlund Kasey Krohn Kaden Miller Ashlynn Naber Dorothy Smith Kenzie Wies During the event, the Senior NHS members were also given their honor cords to wear at graduation..

Scouts seeking collection help

Albion Scouts are asking for the community’s help with their Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, April 18th 2026. The Scouts are collecting donations of any non-perishable food items for the Boone County Food Pantry.
