Tree planting important to Nebraska

Of the many conservation activities that Nebraska’s Natural Resources Districts are tasked with, tree sales and the planting of trees might be the best known to Nebraska residents. Each spring, technicians from the Lower Loup NRD use tractors and specialized equipment to “machine plant” long rows of trees on farms, ranches, and acreages across the district.

Newman Grove High School celebrated prom on Saturday, March 30, at the Creek Road Barn. There was a processional followed by the dinner and a dance. Above, King Trent Patzel and Queen Carmen Montoya (center) are flanked by attendants Austin Wiese, l., and Christyan Anderson, r. Jansell Enriquez-Lopez was also an attendant. After the dance, the students went back to the school for their post-prom event.

Newman Grove Public Schools Honor Society inducts eight

Eight new members were inducted by the Newman Grove High School National Honor Society during ceremonies Monday evening, April 8, in the school gym. The new members are Christyan Anderson, Owen Kaufman, Summer McKinzie, Kailey Patzel, Emily Schlecht, Serenity Strong, Keira Voelker and Aubree Whitaker.

Spring clean-up this weekend

Spring clean-up will be held at Newman Grove Friday, April 12, through Monday, April 15, with the tree dump open. Hilltop Roll-Off will have a dupster available Monday, April 15, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for larger items. No hazardous waste, construction debris, tires, batteries or paint.

Boone-Nance Cattlemen present annual banquet here Saturday

Boone-Nance Cattlemen gathered for their annual banquet and auction event last Saturday, April 6, at the Event Center on the Boone County Fairgrounds. The annual fundraiser included a prime rib supper, followed by presentation of scholarships to nine area high school seniors.
