Sunday evening May 17 at 7:55 p.m. the Petersburg fire department was alerted by a passerby to fire on an electric pole which had been struck by lightning located on Beaver RD and 170 Street west of town. Fire chief Baumgartner and fireman John Wagner responded and the sheriff’s Department notified Cornhusker Power. Flames were periodically shooting from the affected area and the firemen were present as a cautionary measure before the power company arrived. Firemen did not attempt to extinguish the fire because the power was on.

The City of Albion and the Albion Economic Development Corporation, with the City of Albion, released online this week that the walking trail and park renovation project fundraising goal has nearly been met.

At the April 27th Petersburg Red Cross blood Drive 41 units were collected with a goal of 42. This drive was a community celebration honoring Father Frank Baumert as he approaches the remarkable milestone of 600 units of blood products donated, saving many lives.
