Paez brings new life to pub and family

On March 9, 2023 The Beaver’s Pub re-opened its doors to the people of Saint Edward and surrounding areas under the ownership of Angel Paez and his family. Since its re-opening, the pub has continued to garner positive reviews and satisfied customers during its nearly two and a half years in business.

Reilly wins special award at Law event

40 high school students had the opportunity to train like a trooper this week at the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy. The cadets were all apart of the 55th Junior Law Academy, which gives high school seniors an inside look at what it takes to become a Nebraska State Trooper.

Theilen celebrates 10 years at CPPD

Bryce Theilen recently celebrated his 10-year service anniversary with Cornhusker Public Power District. Theilen was hired as an apprentice line technician on May 18, 2015.

Boone County Fair boasts musical acts, rodeo, races, carnival and much more

Barely two weeks away, the Boone County Fair kicks off on Saturday, July 12 at the Fairgrounds in Albion – with events through the 16th for all ages and interests. This year’s theme for the Fair and Parade is “Bee Happy at the Boone County Fair” – and floats and fairgoers are encouraged to make use of the them in their celebrations.

Health Center donates AED to Ericson Lake

Boone County Health Center (BCHC) has awarded its second automated external defibrillator (AED) of the year to Ericson Lake, a popular recreation site that draws an estimated 20,000 visitors annually for camping, river activities, and fishing.

Groeteke wins at “Rama” event

Nicholas Groeteke was named Champion Market Steer and Overall Champion Market Beef at the Boone County Junior Leaders “Beef-A-Rama” that was held over Memorial Day weekend at the Albion fairgrounds.

Aquatic Center repairs delaying open date

City workers and center employees have been hard at work preparing the Albion Aquatic Center for use for the 2025 summer season, but a discovered leak has slowed the annual opening. City Administrator Andrew Devine said that a leak had been discovered in the pool, and parts had to be ordered to make the needed repairs.

Porter Memorial Playground to be dedicated

A special dedication ceremony will be held at the Eli Porter Memorial Playground next Thursday, June 12 at 4 p.m. to commemorate the finished project for all of Albion’s youth. The event will be held near the playground in Fuller Park.
