Body On Tuesday, March 3, the Newman Grove American Legion Commander Ivan Herchenbach presented Duane Chilson with his 50 year Golden Certificate and pin. Chilson served in the Special Forces for three years in Vietnam, he was discharged as a Sergeant.

Blood Drive meets goal at 55

Body The Newman Grove Red Cross blood drive was held on March 2, 2026, at Fellowship Bible Church. We had 55 donors collecting 55 units of blood with a goal of 55.

Foundation adds $52,000 to fund

Body Through the generous contributions of Newman Grove residents and supporters, $52,000 was added to the Newman Grove Foundation Fund unrestricted endowment during the Fall Fund-raiser campaign.

Body Three Lady Panther wrestlers ended their regular seasons at the B-1 District tournament in Plainview last week. At 120, Mackenzie Wiese (13-16) won with a bye, pinned Segelke of Minden, lost by pin to Thompson of Yutan and lost by pin to Settje of Laurel-Concord-Colerdige.

Body Representing Newman Grove/St. Edward’s bowling team, Serenity Strong won sixth-place at the Class B Girls State bowling tournament in Lincoln this past Monday.

New Superintendent accepts position

Body Following a series of special meetings, interviews and executive sessions, the Newman Grove Board of Education offered the school’s top job last Thursday, and received an acceptance from Tyler Beranek, former principal at Lindsay Academy.

Hunters Education held...

Body A Hunter Safety Class was held three times this past week in Newman Grove for a total of 8 hours class time. Twenty-five kids attended the class. Students came Newman Grove and the surrounding towns. The classes were held at the Newman Grove Bowl.

Wiese takes over filling station

Body The filling station on Main Street in Newman Grove changed hands on December 8, 2025. Theo’s Corner, formerly owned by Dustin Guthard, was sold to Brian Wiese.
