Courthouse 50th anniversary, July 2

Body At the end of June 1976 the longawaited reconstruction of Boone County’s courthouse finished construction and opened its doors to Boone County patrons. This June marks the 50th anniversary of the courthouse’s completed construction and opening.

250th to be celebrated at Library

Body In honor of American’s 250th birthday this year, the St. Edward Public Library is hosting Chautauqua Days for their annual summer reading event, June 30 - July 3. The event will be held at the St. Edward Community Center, beginning at 10:30 each morning.

Pull held at Fairgrounds...

Body The Albion Tractor Pull held on Sunday June 7th at the Boone County Fairgrounds was a huge success. The infield of the race track was bursting with tractors from many counties according to the license plates on the trucks and trailers parked west of the track.

Schindel honored with Auxiliary award...

Body The Albion American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars members presented the Living Auxiliary award this year to local member, Connie Schindel. Schindel serves as the treasurer for VFW Post 736 Auxiliary. She is pictured above with the members and below with her family.

Many attend Memorial Day event; special presentations made

Body Commander Hank Thieman welcomed attendees to the American Legion Post #334 Memorial Day program saying the group has been blessed with a great day and reminded everyone that “ were” today to honor those who gave it all for freedom so we could have it all.”

Venue on 4th opens season

Body The Albion Economic Development Corporation and a host of local vendors kicked off the season in downtown Albion with a Cinco De Mayo celebration at the Venue on 4th last week.
