Thrivent shredding event at end of April

Jill Anding of Thrivent, will be partnering with the Boone County Area Food Pantry to host a shred event again this year, at the end of April. During this event, Thrivent will offer free paper shredding to the community, and assemble and donate Birthday Party Bags to the food pantry People are invited to join the two groups on Wednesday, April 29, from 4-6 p.m., at 1112 W State Street to help the Boone County Area Food Pantry with our goal of assembling 50 Birthday Party Bags.

Young parents class hosted by BCHC

The early years of a child’s life can be filled with both joy and challenge— and Boone County Health Center (BCHC) is offering a new opportunity to help parents navigate both with confidence. This spring, BCHC will host a Young Child Parenting Group, designed to equip parents and guardians with practical tools, encouragement, and support during some of the most important years of parenting.

Clark Park project begins...

Work has started on the Clark Park update project, as part of the City of Albion and AEDC’s project that was announced at the beginning of the month. Construction will prioritize the trail segment from the Sports Complex to Clark Park, with the goal of having it completed before ball season begins.

5000 Quilts sent to Mission work

Cub Scouts visit Cedar Valley Lumber

On Sunday February 22nd the Cub Scout Pack 155 was hosted by Cedar Valley Lumber in Albion. Brian Nathan and Tim Woebbecke demonstrated several tools to the scouts and provided bird house kits. The scouts were given the opportunity to use the hand tools that were demonstrated to assemble their bird houses. In addition to building a bird house, Brian and Tim gave a tour of the lumber yard and helped explain their role in this community. “Cub Scout Pack

Junior High travels for Stanton Honor Band

On Saturday, February 14th, 12 Boone Central 7th and 8th Grade Band and Choir students traveled to the Stanton Junior High Honor Festival. 31 schools and approximately 300 students participated in the event. Students were selected based on nominations by their directors. The groups rehearsed throughout the day and concluded with a public concert.
